Applications

Photovoltaics is used to provide electricity for off-grid applications. This type of system is often known as a stand-alone system because it supplies electrical power independently of the main electricity grid and often in very remote places.

The other application is known as grid-connected photovoltaics. This provides a way for photovoltaics to contribute to the national electricity supply network.
