Custom-designed Systems
Offices and industrial buildings are particularly suited to solar electricity and the benefits it provides. Given the high cost of the conventional facades of these buildings, the added cost for replacing part of the building material with solar modules is relatively low. The total cost of the system may even be lower than conventional cladding when all the advantages of solar electric facades are taken into account.
For a long time Naps has focused on custom-designed systems, including building applications. We have the expertise to design fully-integrated solar electricity for large buildings.
Key benefits:

- Environmentally-friendly way of producing electricity
- Cost-efficient, can replace standard construction materials
- Peak loads are during the day-time when the solar electricity production is at its highest
- Begins to pay back right away by producing electricity
- New visual and architectural possibilities
- As the electricity is generated where it is consumed, transmission and distribution losses are avoided
Designing architectural features as part of the solar electricity system supplied to large buildings often presents a unique opportunity. The solar elements can be fitted into the building skin itself, giving true building integration. We can supply special size solar modules according to our customer’s needs. Our range of solar elements can be incorporated into a larger building in the following way:

- Facades (non-transparent) forming the wall structure of a new building
- Glazed atria / daylighting areas of new buildings which require some transparency
- Sloping roofs of new buildings, where the solar electricity is required to form part of the weatherproof roof
- Sunshading over windows
- Existing flat roofs
Whether a solar electricity system is being supplied to an old building – ie a ‘retrofit’ -, or over the normal surface of a new building, or whether solar elements are being fully integrated into a building while it is being built, Naps can fulfil your requirements.
